Marek: Read the Letter

Marek hunched over a desk, reading.

Drea: Hello, Marek! I'm feeling very good today, so mother let me write. How are you doing with Kenik? I hope he isn't still mad at you by the time you get this letter. Gosh, that would be, what, 3 months? Surely he doesn't stay upset for that long.
Drea: My mother said she asked around for the girl named Reese, but she can't find anything! Mother says the city is so big we probably won't be able to find her without more information. Next time she comes back to town, ask her what street she lives on and tell me. Or better yet, go with her back to the city! I would love for you to visit. The servants could fix you my favorite tea, and if I was feeling well we could play dress up! Mother tells me boys can’t dress up, but I think that’s silly. It would be so much fun!
Drea: I am sorry to hear your father did that to you. I think I would be very sad, and I am glad to hear Kenik was really mad at him for you, even though you two were fighting at the time. It seems like Kenik just gets mad at everything, but don't tell him I said that! I don't want him mad at me too!
Drea: Since you got my last letter, I have been feeling a bit better. I still do not feel well enough to play most days, but yesterday I was feeling well enough to go outside! I went down to the market and ate a big meat pie. It was snowing, too, and wow, snow is so cold! It's so pretty when it falls, though. It gets gross and brown on the side of the roads, but in the air it is perfect white and delivers the Lover’s icy kisses on my cheek.
Drea: I did not get to stay out for too long, though. Mother didn't want me to fall ill again, and I needed to practice my writing. She tells me I am very good at writing poetry and should send you a poem of mine, but I am too nervous about it. If you want to see some, you should come here yourself!
Drea: I could tell you everything that has happened in these past months, but it would not be very interesting. I cannot wait to hear your response, and will spend every day looking out of the window in anticipation! Your loving cousin,

Drea
